*Jussie Smollett, as we reported earlier, was up for an NAACP Image award, however we will now report that the embattled “Empire” actor came up empty.

The category that Smollett was nominated for, Excellent Supporting Actor in a Drama Collection, was given out Friday night time at the nominee’s dinner. The winner of the category was Jesse Williams of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

“In mild of the fees being dropped, I feel it [would be] a superb factor for him, I feel it’s an excellent thing for his or her show, and why not come be celebrated together with his peers and his group?” host Anthony Anderson stated in an interview with Entertainment Tonight forward of the present which was broadcast reside Saturday evening/night time.

We will only assume Smollett’s loss at the Picture Awards made a gaggle of black conservatives glad who had tried to strain the NAACP towards giving Smollett the award.

“Everyone has a cause to be disillusioned with Jussie Smollett right now, and these accrued causes justify the NAACP taking swift and applicable motion to take away him from consideration for its Image Award,” stated Undertaking 21 Co-Chairman Council Nedd II. “Smollett is charged with perpetrating a hate crime hoax that wasted priceless police assets and stoked racial tensions nationwide. It harm our nation’s capability to heal its racial wounds and made the NAACP’s civil rights objectives more durable to realize. The NAACP must make it clear that his conduct is just not OK by removing him from rivalry for an Image Award.”

So far as the issues the black conservatives raised, as has been reported, Smollett had beforehand been accused by Chicago police of paying two males to stage a Jan. 31 hate crime to gin up public consideration as a result of he was dissatisfied together with his pay on “Empire.” Prosecutors initially charged him with 16 felony counts related to submitting a false police report, however these expenses have been dropped after the actor served two days of group service and forfeited his $10,000 money bond cost to the town.

In an op-ed revealed on Saturday, Prepare dinner County State’s Lawyer Kim Foxx maintained that the actor has neither been “found innocent” nor “exonerated” regardless of her office’s determination not to pursue the fees.
